The original main street was Emily Street, which was the Melbourne to Sydney Road. When the railway arrived in 1872, Station Street became the new town centre. With the expansion of the town along the Trawool Road, which is now known as Anzac Avenue, a third shopping precint was established. Today, all three shopping precincts remain but the main one in Station Street has expanded into Wallis and Tallarook Streets.
Between the three shopping precincts, Seymour has four supermarkets, a large variety of shops, two post offices, two iconic fast food chains, cafes, restaurants, takeaway, major banks and much more.
